Cardiac disease encompass a variety of conditions that affect the heart. Some of these conditions include: heart failure, heart attack , heart murmurs, palpitations, shortness of breath. There are many things that can increase the likelihood of developing cardiac(heart) disease these are called risk factors. Some risk factors you cannot control — age or ethnicity, for example — but there are many others that you can, such as diet, exercise, alcohol and tobacco use. Early detection and management of these factors is crucial to improving an individual’s quality of life.

Congenital heart defect (CHD), also known as a congenital heart anomaly or congenital heart disease, is a problem in the structure of the heart that is present at birth.
Congenital heart defects change the normal flow of blood through the heart.There are many types of congenital heart defects. They range from simple defects with no symptoms to complex defects with severe, life-threatening symptoms.Congenital heart defects are the most common type of birth defect.
Many of these defects are simple conditions. They need no treatment or are easily fixed. The treatment a child receives depends on the type and severity of his or her heart defect. Other factors include child’s age, size, and general health.Some of the common CHD are Atrial septal defect (ASD),Patent Ductus arteriosis (PDA),Ventricular septal defect (VSD),Hypoplastic heart syndrome,Transposition of the great vessels and Tetrology of Fallot . Mostly they require surgical correction. It is very important to address it at appropriate age to have the best outcome.
